Implications and Recommendations 9 References 11 Background Substance abuse is a problem that has over time dogged institutions of higher learning. There is a cause for alarm based on the recent misuse of prescription medication as well as the legalization of marijuana in certain states. This is a cause of concern for businesses because it affects the future supply of graduates. It is estimated that 46 per cent of U.S. college students have in one way or the other involved in some type of substance abuse. Rocky University has, for several years, not been spared by the menace. It is even believed in some faculties of the university that the menace is more common at the university that it is in any other. On the other hand, there are members of the faculty who are of the belief that it is not such a big problem. This study was conducted to assess the current situation of substance abuse behavior of the Rocky students. To achieve the objective of this study, an anonymous exit survey was administered to a sample of 90 students from the current ye arââ¬â¢s graduating class. Data gathered was analyzed to probe into the three concern areas of substance abuse.
